About

I’m Arthur, and I run a2 Web Design from Detroit. I build custom websites for established businesses through a collaborative process—not as a vendor who disappears after taking your deposit, but as a partner who’s locked in from day one.

I got into web design because I saw too many businesses stuck with mediocre sites built by people who didn’t care about the outcome. They’d pay thousands of dollars, get ghosted during the build, and end up with something that didn’t work for them or their customers. I knew there had to be a better way.

That’s why I built a2 around collaboration and transparency. When we start a project, you’re not handing off your website and hoping for the best—you’re involved in every decision. We work together to make sure the site reflects your brand, serves your customers, and supports your goals. And when we launch, I provide training so you can manage your site confidently, not depend on me forever.

I work primarily with Detroit businesses because I believe in strengthening the local economy. But I also partner with clients nationwide who value quality and are ready to be hands-on throughout the process. If you have a clear vision, organized operations, and see your website as an investment rather than just an expense, we’re probably a good fit.

Quality matters more to me than quantity. I’d rather do fewer projects well than take on more than I can handle. Every website—whether it’s $2,500 or $10,000—gets the same level of care and commitment. When we start, we’re locked in.

If you’re looking for a collaborative partner who’s transparent about scope, timeline, and cost, let’s talk.

Services & Process

I build three types of projects: full custom websites, redesigns, and ongoing management.

Full Builds start with strategy—understanding your business, audience, and goals before any design begins. We plan site structure, content flow, and functionality, then build a custom, mobile-responsive site optimized for performance. Most projects take 4-8 weeks depending on scope and how quickly you can provide content and feedback.

Redesigns are for businesses with outdated or underperforming sites. We evaluate what’s working, what’s not, and determine whether to rebuild from scratch or modernize your existing setup. Sometimes it’s a full overhaul; sometimes it’s targeted improvements to design, speed, and user experience.

Ongoing Management includes managed hosting ($50/month) and maintenance plans starting at $100/month. This covers updates, backups, security, and priority support. After launch, I provide training so you can manage your site yourself—but if you’d rather have someone handle the technical work, I’m available.

Every project follows a four-phase process: Discovery & Strategy, Design & Development, Optimization & Launch, and Support & Growth. You’re involved at every stage. We stay in sync through regular check-ins, and I’m transparent about scope, timelines, and costs. No surprises, no hidden fees.

FAQ

What makes you different from other web designers?

I don’t disappear after taking your deposit. We work together throughout the build, and I provide training so you’re not dependent on me forever. When we start, we’re locked in.

Can you redesign my existing site?

Yes. We’ll evaluate what’s working, what’s not, and whether a redesign or rebuild makes more sense for your goals.

What is your pricing?

Projects start at $2,500. Final cost depends on scope, complexity, and timeline. After our discovery call, I’ll provide a detailed quote.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Typical structure is 50% to start, 50% at launch. For projects over $4,000, we can discuss milestone-based payments.

What do I need to provide?

Content (text, images), brand assets (logo, colors), and active participation in feedback cycles. If you don’t have content ready, we can discuss content strategy as part of the project.

Do you work with startups?

Yes, if you have clear branding, organized content, and a realistic timeline. I work best with businesses that know what they need and are ready to move forward.

How long does a project take?

Most projects take 3-8 weeks from kickoff to launch, depending on complexity and how quickly you can provide content/feedback. Rush timelines available for an additional fee.

What if I need changes after launch?

Training is included so you can make updates yourself. For ongoing support, I offer managed hosting at $50/month and ongoing maintenance plans starting at $100/per month. Larger updates are quoted separately.

Do you handle hosting?

Yes. I offer managed hosting at $50/month, which includes security updates, backups, uptime monitoring, and technical support. For industries with specific compliance needs, I can set up specialized hosting that meets those requirements. You can also choose to host elsewhere – I’ll help you get set up either way.

Do you do SEO/marketing/social media?

I build WordPress sites optimized for search engines and fast performance. For ongoing SEO or marketing, I can recommend specialists.

What happens if we're not a good fit?

I’ll tell you. I only take projects where I’m confident I can deliver value. If your timeline, budget, or expectations don’t align, I’ll say so upfront.
